Staré Hory village - Majer rock - Krížna mountain - Turecká village

This area is good for winter activities such as skiing, snowboarding and  hiking.  The mountain Križná is an excellent place for hiking. This location is a crossroad of other hiking trails. They lead across the hilly area with beautiful spots to see such as small waterfalls, medows where you can make a break and relax in sunny weather. The area is also famous for appearance of bear and deer,  one of the biggest wild animals in Slovak mountains.

The place  is located  only 18 km from Banská Bystrica.

On this trip you can enjoy a beautiful countryside.

Donovaly resort - Kozí chrbát mountain - Korytnica spa village

Time: 4 h

A gorgeous area suitable for winter and summer sports activities. On your hiking route you can stop in Korytnica which is famous for its mineral springs which have healing effects on human body especially digestive system. The spa here had a long tradition, but now they are being renovated.

This trail is recommeded to people who love peace and quiet with a lack of hikers. The trail is not difficult. 

Harmanec cave

Time: 1 hour
Distance from Banská Bystrica: 13 km

It is located near the village Harmanec. The cave is 3 123 m long and it is located on the top of the hill and you have to climb onto it to get there. Inside you can find many interesting creations of water and lime. It is also a habitat of  a bats which sleep here in winter time.

The path to the cave has an elevation of 260 m from the bottom of the hill. On the way up the hill you can read educational boards with ecological information. The walk takes about 40 minutes.

Urpín hill

Time: 1 hour
Length: 3,6 km

The hill is looming over the town Banská Bystrica.  This is a good walking trip  for families with children. On the top of the Urpín hill you can find a calvary path and a church on the top with regular mass service. It is also a popular place for those who are interested in astronomy because there is situated an observatory.

Every stop on the trail have some interactive character. You can discover and experience our beautiful nature by informational boards on every step. You will learn how plants grow on the Urpín hill, how animals live here.
